It is important that you are made aware of matters affecting our school. We want to inform you that Keya Paha County Schools was in a brief secured status as a precaution due to a personal threat from an individual outside of the school building this morning, Tuesday, September 17.
After the threat was realized through local law enforcement communications, all doors on the school grounds were locked and no one was allowed into the building, nor were students and staff allowed outside of the building by 8:17 am.
By 8:38 am the local law enforcement reached out to Keya Paha County Schools and informed us that the threat had been managed and there was no longer a danger.
The safety and security of your child(ren) is our top priority. We will continue to monitor all situations that threaten the safety of school operations. At this time, Keya Paha County Schools has resumed a normal routine.
If you have any further questions, please reach out to the school at 402-497-3501.

It just keeps happening at KPCS - students “SEEKING OPPORTUNITIES”. Senior Lucas Clay stepped up his teammate and kindness game by extending his practice run to boost and help another teammate finish their run! He could have sat and waited for the teammate to finish, but Lucas literally ran the extra mile alongside his teammate providing encouragement and company. Thank you, Lucas for seeking the opportunity to be a top notch teammate!

KPCS students continue to exemplify the 2024-25 school year theme of “SEEKING OPPORTUNITIES” because they can do hard things. 4th grade student Larissa Rutar has been seeking opportunities to grow by tackling difficult math problems and sharing her problem solving strategies. She doesn’t give up when the answer is tricky to find! She also isn’t going to give up on these playground hanging rings! Congratulations, Larissa Rutar for seeking the opportunities all around you!
