Ag. Business Trip 2022-Nashville, TN Sneak Peek
The Ag. Business Trip to Nashville, Tennessee is wrapping up and here are a few sneak peek pictures. The Ag. Business Trip is a capstone experience for the 50 State Extension Style Project which students start in junior high. Through this program, students get to explore some of the 50 states through zooming extension agents.



Personnel from ESU 17 will be at Keya Paha County Schools on March 31, 2022 for Kindergarten Round-Up. They will be conducting developmental screenings from 8:00 am - 11:00 am for all children birth to 5 years of age. The purpose of these screenings is to determine developmental benchmarks. Please contact the elementary and schedule a time to have your child(ren) screened. A parental permission slip is required, please call (402) 497-2621 to get the information.

The Kindergarten class had fun celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by making a pot of gold and eating snacks with Emily.


Junior Parents- The junior class will be taking the ACT test on March 22nd. The test will take place at Internal Design beginning at 8:30AM-12:30PM. Breakfast will be provided prior to testing and students can begin arriving at 7:45AM. Parental consents are being sent home today with students, please sign and remind your child to return. After testing is complete at 12:30, juniors will be dismissed for the remainder of the day.

Seniors-The PTO scholarship was emailed out a few weeks ago and the Foundation Scholarship was emailed today. These are both also on the list under the scholarship tab. Be mindful that deadlines are coming up and give plenty of postal time, if scholarships are being mailed in!

Developmental Screenings: Birth to Age 5
Personnel from ESU 17 will be at Keya Paha County Schools on March 31 from 8:30-12:00 to do developmental screenings for children ages birth to 5. The screening takes 20-30 minutes. The purpose of these screenings is to determine developmental benchmarks. Call and make an appointment with Teresa, the school secretary, at (402) 497-2621.

Kindergarten Round-Up will be held at Keya Paha County Schools on Thursday, March 31, from 8:00 - 3:27 for all eligible children. Students may choose to eat the school lunch consisting of hot dogs, smiley fries, cookie, and milk OR bring a lunch from home. If you have any questions, call Ms. Snelley at 402-497-2621.

UPDATE! Due to parent-teacher conferences Junior High Track practice will be in Springview today.
The rest of the week all track practices will be in Bassett.

The school board meeting will be held on Monday, March 14th at 8:00pm.

JH Track and HS Golf will start on Monday, the 14th.

KPCS Parent Teacher Conferences will be Monday, March 14, 2022 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. We understand there may have been some confusion about times, so apologize for that and we look forward to the opportunity to get together on Monday.

The Department of Natural Resource Management at South Dakota State University is hosting a Natural Resources Camp, July 18-22 at Oak Lake Field Station in Astoria, SD.
The Natural Resources Camp is a great way to gain exposure to the world of natural resources, including fish, plants, wildlife, soils, invertebrates, and water. The camp offers opportunities to gain hands-on experiences in natural resource ecology and management. The camp is intended for high school students, entering grades 9, 10, 11 and 12, who have a strong desire to learn more about the natural world or who have an interest in pursuing a career related to natural resources. Permission of parent or guardian is required.
Possible activities the camp offers include Bird Banding, Lake Ecology, Pollinator Diversity, Camera Trapping, Dart Gun Shooting, Archery, Radio Telemetry, Small Mammal Trapping, Reptile Trapping & Ecology and Careers in Natural Resources.
Space is limited and admission is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Lodging and meals are included in the registration. Registration is $300 and closes on June 1, 2022.
